    Introduction

Welcome to SolanaBeach.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

    Information We Collect

    1) Analytics and usage data.

We use Google Analytics and Clicky.com to understand how people use our site. These tools may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, referring/exit pages, time stamps, and approximate location. We use this to improve site performance and content.

    2) Cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies are small files stored on your device that help remember preferences and analyze usage. You can disable cookies in your browser; some features may not work as intended if you do.

    3) Information you provide.

    • Contact forms / tips / corrections / partnership inquiries: your name, email, and message.
    • Business claims or listing updates: name, role, business details, contact info, and any files you submit.
    • Events or submissions: details you choose to share (e.g., event name, dates, links, images).

    4) Embedded content and third-party tools.

Pages may include embedded maps (e.g., Google Maps), social or booking widgets, or links to local businesses. These services may set their own cookies and collect data under their policies.

    How We Use Information

    • Improve the site: analyze usage to fix problems, measure interest, and enhance content and navigation.
    • Respond to you: answer questions, process listing claims/updates, and review event submissions.
    • Protect the site: detect and prevent spam, fraud, or abuse; maintain security and uptime.
    • Legal/compliance: comply with laws, regulations, or valid legal requests.

    How We Share Information

We don’t sell your personal information. We may share limited data with:

    • Service providers (e.g., analytics, hosting, error monitoring) who process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
    • Legal and safety recipients when required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.

    Data Protection

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information. No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe.

    Your Choices

    • Cookies/analytics: manage cookies in your browser settings. You can also use tools like the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
    • Email/contact: if you contact us, you can request deletion of your message history (subject to legal obligations).

    Data Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or anonymize it.

    International Users

SolanaBeach.com operates in the United States. If you access the site from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

    Minors

SolanaBeach.com is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

    Third-Party Links

Our site links to third-party websites (e.g., local businesses, venues, ticketing or reservation platforms). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information.

    California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you specific rights regarding your personal information (“PI”). This section explains your rights and how to exercise them.

Categories of PI We Collect (last 12 months)

    • Identifiers: IP address; contact info you provide (name, email) via forms.
    • Internet/usage data: pages viewed, device/browser info, timestamps, referring pages.
    • Approximate geolocation: derived from IP address.
    • User submissions: business claim details, events, photos/files you upload.
    • We do not intentionally collect sensitive PI (e.g., precise geolocation, government IDs, financial data) and do not knowingly create inferences about you.

Sources: You (via forms), your device/browser (automatic collection), and our service providers (analytics/hosting).

Purposes: Site operation, analytics, security/fraud prevention, responding to inquiries, and legal compliance.

Disclosures: To service providers under contract, and to legal/safety recipients when required.

Retention: For as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above, then deleted or anonymized.

    Your Rights

    • Right to Know/Access: Request the categories and specific pieces of PI we have collected about you.
    • Right to Delete: Ask us to delete PI we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
    • Right to Correct: Ask us to correct inaccurate PI we maintain about you.
    • Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: We do not sell your PI and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.
    • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive PI: Not applicable—we do not use sensitive PI for additional purposes.
    • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

    How to Submit a Request

Use our Contact form and include: “California Privacy Request” in the subject, your name, the email address you used with us, and the request type (Access / Delete / Correct / Inquiry). You may also authorize an agent to submit a request; we may require proof of authorization and verification of your identity.

    Verification & Timing

We will verify your request (for example, by confirming control of your email address or asking limited questions). We will respond within 45 days; if reasonably necessary, we may extend once by up to 45 additional days and will let you know why.

Global Privacy Control (GPC) / Do Not Track

If we implement features that constitute “sale” or “sharing,” we will honor browser-based Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out. Industry standards for “Do Not Track” are not yet uniform; accordingly, we do not currently respond to DNT signals.

“Shine the Light” (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.83)

We do not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.

    Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Please check back periodically.
